January 14: Skewer hotpot

This morning we woke up at 6 to get the bus back to Chengdu. Another 10 hours! Woohoo.

When we got on the bus Henry said, "yes! We have the hammer!" Too funny. Always concerned about our exit strategy incase of an emergency.

At the rest stop we got some apples and oranges from a lady with the cutest two little kids. The girl was my favorite. She kept stealing the berries and eating half, throwing it back in the bucket and then laughing hysterically. Her face was so dirty and I knew she didn't have much but she was so happy. Proof that things don't equal happiness!

That night we got back to Chengdu and got hotpot. But it was a different kind of hotpot. We got to go in this room and pick out our own skewers of food. At the end they counted all the skewers and charged us based on how many we had. It was great. I like skewer hotpot much better. Partially because I can see what I am getting instead of blindly ordering!
